The Ritual — Volume I
The Maison Crown
frontal sew-in, step by step.
A proper install is never about speed. It's about the foundation and the melt. This is the workflow our stylists follow — and what you should expect from yours when you wear Maison Crown hair.
01
The Foundation
Braids, flat to the scalp
The hair is braided down in a beehive or straight-back pattern so the frontal sits completely flush. No bulging, no shifting. Every great install begins below the lace.
02
The Protective Base
Bald cap method
A beige or skin-tone cap is shaped over the braids — protecting the natural hair and creating a smooth, skin-like canvas for the lace to disappear into.
03
Placement & Customization
Aligning the hairline
The frontal is set against the natural hairline and customized — plucked, tinted, and tweezed until the part reads as scalp. This is where craft becomes invisible.
04
The Melt
Adhesion, with restraint
Some clients prefer a glueless finish secured with thread alone. For the iconic seamless melt, a light layer of professional lace adhesive is laid along the perimeter.
05
The Sew
Volume, locked in
Bundles are sewn onto the braid tracks in horizontal rows or a U-shape pattern — building thickness from nape to crown without ever stressing the lace.

After the install
Keep the lace
looking fresh.
The first 48 hours set the tone for the whole install. Treat your lace with the same intention your stylist did.
- Edges
- Lay them once. Never re-style on dry lace — it lifts the melt.
- Wash
- Co-wash at the sink every 7–10 days. Always rinse downward.
- Sleep
- Silk scarf or a slick low pony. Friction is the only real enemy.
- Lifespan
- Re-tighten at week 4. Take it down at week 6–8.
